Volunteer Information

The Y is the nation’s leading nonprofit committed to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.  The volunteers, staff, members and donors of the Y are all united by a deep commitment to this cause.  We bring men, women and children - just like you – together every day.

We count on the generosity of our members and partners to keep our doors open to whoever needs a place to go to help them be more healthy, confident, connected and secure.  When you volunteer at the Y, you take an active role in bringing about meaningful, enduring change right in your own neighborhood.

GET INVOLVED

Policy volunteer

Serve on committees, advisory boards, and the board of directors.  Policy volunteers provide strategic direction to the Y and organizational governance, lending us their professional expertise and sharing their passion for strengthening our community.

Program volunteer

Lend their time and talent to programs important to them – and the community. Whatever your skills, interests or schedule, we will match you with a rewarding volunteer experience. As a program volunteer, you can mentor or tutor a child, read stories to young children, coach youth in sports or be a referee, greet members,  fold towels, or help coordinate a group outing for our seniors.

Annual campaign volunteers

Help raise funds to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. At the Y, no child, family or adult is turned away. We recognize that for communities to succeed, everyone must be given the opportunity to be healthy, confident, connected and secure. Funds raised on behalf of the Y are utilized to provide scholarships to families for memberships and child care  and cover the cost of running Y-Rec, our free after school program and SPLASH, free swimming lessons to all 2nd graders in the Bismarck Public School system. Special event volunteers

Make Y special events... well, special! Volunteers of all ages help make Family Fun Night, Zumbathon and other special events successful and fun.
