As many of you know, the YMCA is open to everyone – people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities and financial circumstances. What you might not know is that we believe everyone should be able to participate in the YMCA programs regardless of their ability to pay. The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign is the annual fund raising vehicle that enables us to keep true to our mission and ensure that no one is turned away from the Y due to financial limitations.
The 2010 Strong Kids Campaign represents the 10th year we have reached out to the Bismarck/Mandan community and asked for your help. We are happy to report that last year your YMCA was able to help 2,201 children and adults participate in YMCA programs who could not otherwise have afforded to do so. Let me share with you some of the words that have been expressed by those who have benefited from our donors generosity.
Dear YMCA Donors – Thank you so much for our family scholarship. I remember when I was my sons’ age and my family enrolled me into the YMCA. I participated in many of the Y’s programs. I made many friends and had a lot of fun and exciting experiences. I am grateful to be able to give my sons the opportunity I had when I was younger. I hope they find friends and experiences that will mold them into what they want to be.
To all concerned – Thank you so much! Our medical bills are through the roof and the YMCA is my place of sanity. It is crucial for my mental and physical health. The people at the YMCA from front desk to lifeguards, and cleaning staff to upper management truly care about me! It is my support system. God Bless everyone who is involved in this program.
In 2009, your YMCA awarded more than $274,110 in financial assistance. However, our contributed income covered only 61% of what was awarded. Our goal this year is to start closing this gap! Enclosed is our 2010 campaign brochure, which outlines the direct fee-assistance programs we plan to provide this year. The brochure also indicates the ways we plan to recognize and thank contributing individuals and companies for their efforts. No gift is too little or goes unnoticed!
We would like to ask that you please consider making a gift so that more kids and families in our Bismarck/Mandan community can share the YMCA experience. Together we can and will continue to help build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
Sincerely,
